Italy is a 'cost-efficient option for buyers'

30 April 2008

Britons thinking of moving abroad may like to consider southern Italy as an option.

According to Homes in Italy, a property sales service, the south of Italy is competing with traditionally popular countries such as Spain and France in terms of price.

Mark Slaviero, director of the company, explained that areas that are performing particularly well include Calabria and Puglia, which are attracting a lot of buyers who had previously thought they may not be able to afford a property in Italy.

"Italy is still very popular," he said.

"Now you are finding areas that are not as well developed but can compete on price with established countries like France and Spain," he continued.

A Place in the Sun magazine recently voted Italy as fifth in the top ten destinations for overseas buyers. It showed that the country was moving up in terms of popularity and that is was closing the gap on France and Spain.

When moving abroad be sure to invest in a good self storage system to make the move more organised.
