London 'still popular despite credit crunch'

London is still a popular location for house-buyers and renters despite the current economic climate, it has been claimed.

According to Foxtons, a London and Surrey estate agent, the region is still drawing people who want to relocate to the City.

Ed Phillips, lettings director at the company, claimed that the number of lettings in the capital may have been affected recently, but that it was more a result of there being fewer properties available than demand necessitates, adding that there have been four to five applicants per property in recent months.

"Despite the doom and gloom about the current economy there are still high volumes of people moving to London and relocating here," he said.

Mr Phillips went on to add that the levels of business so far experienced by the company are what it would expect at the busiest time of year.

Prime London asking prices continue to rise across all regions, according the Primelocation.com House Price Index for March this year.

When moving to London, be sure to invest in a good storage facility to ease the move.
