'Location over price' for London renters

08 May 2008

Househunters looking to rent a property in London are more concerned with location than house price, it has been claimed.

According to Propertyfinder.com, a higher demand has been experienced with regard to location now compared to recent years.

Nicholas Leeming, director of the company, commented that opportunities to rent a property at a low price tend to be further from prime locations, something which impacts on transportation that is essential in the city.

"There is a much, much higher demand than in previous years based on location, both in terms of whether you are central or peripheral and your transport hubs, compared to the opportunity to rent at a low price," he said.

This has led Mr Leeming to conclude that convenience of transport links is one of the main factors involved in deciding where to rent.

South-east London has produced strong monthly increases in asking prices, which may be of interest to people looking to buy rather than rent. According to Primelocation.com, house prices in the region increased by 3.6 per cent in March.

When buying or renting a property it is a good idea to invest in a storage system to store all belongings.
