Moving 'is great opportunity to de-clutter'

28 May 2008

Moving house is the perfect time to de-clutter, it has been claimed.

Erika Gibbs, an advisor to the stars, referred to by George Wimpey as the Practical Princess, has claimed that by de-cluttering life becomes easier and helps householders to be more organised and in control.

"Moving home is a great opportunity to de-clutter your home and ultimately your life," she said.

"The more organised one is, the easier one's life becomes and what better time to start than when you're moving home?" she added.

Tips offered by the housebuilding company for de-cluttering include spending weeks before a move collating belongings and ensuring that all items are in the correct room to make the packing process easier.

In addition, it is advised that movers should only keep the clothes in their wardrobe that they are actually wearing at the time and keep other seasonal clothing in other storage.

According to helpiammoving.co.uk, when having a clear-out, people should ask themselves the following: Do I really need it? Why am I keeping it? Does it fit me? and Am I just keeping it for sentimental reasons?

This may be a good time to invest in a self-storage system that will help organise and de-clutter.
