Brits heading to Oz in record numbers

24 June 2008

The number of Britons opting to pack up and head 'Down Under' for a new life has hit a record high, a new study has revealed.

New research carried out by the removals firm Allied Pickfords found that Australia is now beating traditional favourites such as Cyprus and Spain when it comes to attracting Brits looking for a new start.

Notably, as well as the better weather and higher quality of life, many are now making the move for career purposes, showing that it is not just retirees who are leaving these shores.

The removals firm concluded: "People are prepared to consider all parts of the globe as their home."

The comments come soon after the currency exchange service HiFX revealed that it had seen a ten per cent increase in the number of inquiries it has had with regards to buying a property in Australia.

Those heading to the sun for a new start may want to leave some of their possessions in the UK and could therefore benefit from secure storage facilities.
