With the property market in Spain being described as a "buyer's market", many homeowners might be looking to escape the economic turmoil in Britain and move abroad.
Research conducted by Cater Allan private bank suggests more than three million people will buy a
property overseas in the next two years, and Spain Magazine spokesperson Oliver Chandler believes a
home on the Iberian Peninsula would be ideal for those thinking about leaving Britain for a fresh start in a different country.
"[Spain] is ideal for people that are looking for a place to go over for the weekend, or for summer or actually to move over there because at the minute the prices are very favourable despite the strength of the euro against the pound," he commented.
One of the reasons which makes Spain particularly attractive for British investors is that it is just an hour's flight away, Mr Chandler added.
People looking to move abroad could make their transition easier by putting some of their superfluous items in storage until they are more settled in their new abode.
