Interest mounts in green builds

19 June 2009

The turnout at this week's Greenbuild Expo may suggest that there is a growing interest in the processes involved with sustainable property.

Steve Oxley, deputy editor at sustain magazine, said that the event was "very good and very busy", and indicated that many visitors to the exhibition showed a keen interest in environmental issues.

Various national and local organisations were involved in the two-day event, which was hosted by Manchester Central between Wednesday and Thursday.

These included the Centre for Alternative Technology and the Northern Housing Consortium, as well as Manchester city council.

Lucy Pedler, director of sustainable building group The Green Register, recently said that the increase in green builds needs to be "much faster", while existing building stock must be "radically altered to adapt to climate change".

Any property development - whether it is making a home more eco-friendly or simply decorating a room - may prompt people to use safe storage to keep their belongings out of harm's way.
