TheMoveChannel.com: Why Australia is so attractive to Brits

25 June 2009

Many Brits choose to relocate to Australia because it is culturally similar to the UK, it has been claimed.

TheMoveChannel.com explains that although property prices are not especially cheap down under, they are not as expensive as London homes in terms of square foot prices.

This is because there is more space and properties are usually bigger with cities growing "outwards rather than upwards".

Dan Johnson, director at TheMoveChannel.com, cautions: "Coupled with the interest rates that they have there at the moment, you can't go there and expect to suddenly have a huge property in the centre of Sydney for the price of something up north in England."

The Housing Industry Association is expecting 133,000 new housing starts in Australia in 2009 followed by 144,000 in 2010.

Anyone looking to make the move to Australia could benefit from putting some of their furnishings in storage to make the process easier.
