Sustainable home renovation is "becoming the norm"

02 July 2009

It has become "the norm" for those doing renovation work on their homes to go green, according to one industry expert.

Writing for SeacoastOnline.com, Todd Lamoureaux, president of The Tidewater Group, explained that whether changes are being made to a house or office, sustainable design and building practices are increasingly being adopted.

He stated that according to the National Home Builders Association, 40 per cent of homes built in 2010 will be done so to a green standard.

Mr Lamoureaux continued: "The key to a successful green building project, regardless of whether it is a renovation or new build, is to start with green building ideas in the forefront."

He believes that it is "proactive, conscious decisions" that "make things happen".

The National Energy Foundation recently advised that in the future, all homes should be fitted with solar panels.

If you're keen to go green and carry out some sustainable home improvements then why not put your furniture into storage to keep it safe during the process.
