Exchange rate improvements between the pound and the dollar have prompted an increasing number of Brits to invest in property in the US, it has been claimed.
Deane Roe, a spokesperson for independent foreign exchange broker Moneycorps, said the number of UK buyers opting to purchase homes in the states has risen by 23 per cent over the last six months.
"This increase directly correlates with the pound's improved performance against the dollar, with a noticeable pickup in clients buying US dollars once the rate moved above the 1.50 level," she commented.
Ms Roe added that their has also been an increase in the number of people making cash purchases on property priced between $30,000 (£18,160) and $100,000.
The Federal Housing Finance Agency reported earlier this week that seasonally adjusted US house prices rose by 0.23 per cent in the third quarter of the year, compared to the previous three months.
Those planning to move house could make the process less stressful by using self storage facilities.
