More education needed 'on benefits of green technology in the home'

04 February 2010

British homeowners need to be made more aware of the benefits of installing green technology in their properties, it has been claimed.

Andrew Leech, director at the National Home Improvement Council, suggested that the public needs "a lot more education" on the subject.

"They are still very sceptical about global warming and climate change and what the knock-on effects of those are," he commented.

It is essential for the planet and also for people's pockets that the advantages of green technology are promoted, Mr Leech explained.

He added that there needs to be a "continual bombardment" from the government and environmental organisations until the message gets across.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change announced earlier this week that from April 1st 2010 households that install green technology can claim payments for the energy they produce.

Those planning to carry out green renovation work may wish to consider using self storage facilities to keep their belongings safe.
