Give clothes "a rest" if they have not been worn for some time

04 June 2010

Clothes that have not been worn for some time may just need to be put to one side rather than thrown out, according to one journalist.

Although women are often given the advice to throw away something out if it has not been worn in 12 months or more, writer Bel Mooney stated in the Daily Mail that the idea is "clearly unworkable".

Considering this point, she wondered what you are supposed to do in case it comes back into fashion again and suggested that sometimes an item can still be useful "but just needs a rest".

Looking through the garments she has collected over the past decades that she still feels have a place in her life, Ms Mooney stated: "I really do have some very pretty clothes and can't possibly justify buying any more."

Homeowners were recently advised by interiors expert Cheryll Gillespie that a rainy day is an ideal time to take a serious look at your belongings and work to reduce the amount of clutter.
