People who are considering buying a foreign home should look to Spain and Florida for the best deals, according to one expert.

Robin Wilson, head of overseas at Rightmove.co.uk, said that as both destinations have a high number of homes available, they represent the most likely places for people to find good prices.

In comparison, the expert added that France and Italy are always popular, which means that anyone looking for a bargain will find it difficult to get their dream home.

Alternatively, people who are looking at countries further afield have the possibility of getting more for their money, although Mr Wilson warned that they may have to work hard to find homes for sale, as agents in less popular areas will have less marketing.

A recent study by the Worldwide Property Group found that 62 per cent of people are currently actively looking into buying a property in a foreign destination.
