Homeowners looking to give their properties a design makeover this summer could try taking inspiration from their back garden.
According to the Seattle Times, filling the house with fresh flowers from the garden can bring a touch of summer to any room.
The American news source suggested that using empty beer bottles or filling up an old tin watering can with fresh blooms can make an attractive decoration.
As the fire will not be needed as the temperature rises, the article recommended putting artificial ferns in the space, or using real plants if there is enough light for them.
Moving around the furniture can also help to give a home a new look for the warmer months.
Putting the sofa in the middle of the room can provide a refreshing new feel, the newspaper stated, as well as placing the seating at an interesting angle.
Pulling a bed away from the walls was also recently suggested by interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen in order to create a "grand" look in the bedroom.
