De-clutter before back to school

23 August 2010

The end of the summer holidays before the kids head back to school is the perfect time to de-clutter the house.

Once children go back to the classroom the amount of new books and projects they bring home can dramatically increase the quantity of clutter that fills the house, so taking steps now can help in the long run, the Post Crescent suggested.

Mum of four Jill Haywood told the news source that she always gets to work on reducing clutter before the start of term time.

"Once school starts, it is too late. The papers and homework and snack time is unstoppable," Ms Haywood said.

Some key areas around the home need the most attention at this time, the newspaper stated, with summer sandals and jackets in the hallway perfect for moving elsewhere while old letters and papers that get left on the kitchen table can be tidied to avoid getting lost among schoolwork.

Reducing clutter was also recently noted as a way of cutting stress at home by the Express Buzz website.
