Set goals to get through de-clutter

31 August 2010

Having enough space at home to store all her books on shelves was the target for one de-cluttering writer.

Liz Soares took on the task of reducing the amount of clothing and excess items in order to keep all of her books on her shelves without having to pile them on top of one another, she wrote in the Kennebec Journal.

Noting that she had a set of antique furniture she had inherited from her mother, she made it her task to fit all of her clothes into this space and ruthlessly removed anything she did not want.

"I felt a rush of joy when I was able to arrange my scarves on the top shelf of the wardrobe and actually see what I owned," she explained.

Homeowners who are considering de-cluttering were recently advised by the Chicago Tribune to begin clearing where they find the mess the most overwhelming.
