France has 'cheap properties in certain areas'

01 June 2011

France could be the ideal destination for people looking to move abroad and purchase property at a reasonable price, according to Heslop & Platt.

Sharp reductions in price have led to the development of "bargain properties" across certain areas of France.

Barbara Heslop, a partner at the company, said that one agent had informed her of huge reductions in prices – as much as 25 per cent in some areas.

She added: "Obviously [this is] not in the hotspots like the Alps or the Cote d'Azur. But in other areas there have been some really interesting price reductions, so you can get bargains."

Although the exchange rate fluctuations are not ideal for buyers, price reductions in many parts of France have "almost offset" the change in foreign currency values.

Heslop & Platt is a firm of solicitors and French law specialists that deals with the purchase of all types of property all over France.

If you are considering a move to France but are not keen on shipping all of your belongings, then opt for a self-storage unit for peace of mind.
