Working from home can leave people feeling less stressed and better off financially, according to the Telework Association.
The organisation said there were clear and obvious financial benefits from not having to travel, for example, having the option to "work compressed hours" and work over four rather than five days.
Peter Thomson, director of research at the organisation, said that more people would feel less rushed, less stressed and better off from not commuting.
He said: "With the price of fuel and rail fares going up, that can be a significant saving."
According to figures published this week by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), commuters in London tend to travel longer to get to work, with 56 per cent facing a journey of over 30 minutes each morning.
The Telework Association is a membership organisation providing information, advice and support to enable individuals, whether employed or self-employed, to make a success of mobile, home-based and flexible ways of working.
If you already work from home, consider making your environment less stressful by clearing away excess belongings into a self storage unit.
