A group of students in Lincoln may have found self storage helpful after they spent their first night at university in portable cabins.
Around 70 University of Lincoln first-years were forced into the unusual arrangement because of a shortage of accommodation, the BBC reported.
The university set up a temporary 'village' last week after it realised it would be facing a higher-than-normal request for student housing.
It also put some students in hotels and asked staff to help out with spare rooms.
Kayleigh Taylor from Lincoln's students union told the BBC: "We are all singing from the same hymn sheet when we say that it's not what these students signed up for."
But she added the university was not entirely at fault, given it is difficult for institutions to know in advance exactly what number of people they will be taking.
The University of Lincoln said it was working to source more long-term student accommodation in the city.
