De-clutter to get stress free

08 November 2011

The UK's stressed-out couples might want to give their home a de-clutter in order to relinquish their pent-up frustrations.

It might sound a little odd – but given new research suggests a third of Brits feel most stressed at home, it might just make perfect sense.

A study of 2,000 Britons aged between 18 and 65 by Benenden Healthcare Society found the pressures of modern-day living now mean stress-related arguments are at an all-time high.

The average couple now falls out four times a week, with over-spending, having little or no help around the house and worrying about paying bills the most likely drivers for a barney.

And anxiety isn't just causing arguments. One in five surveyed said they had avoided getting passionate with their partner because they have too much on their mind.

Karin Mochan, editor of Benhealth Magazine, said: "There's no doubt that many of us feel the effects of stress in our everyday lives, resulting in a major impact on our personal relationships and work lives."

Given the home is the location of so much anxiety and stress, a spring clean may well do the trick in curing the argument blues.

Why not hire some self storage and hold any non-essential items in there?
