Homeowners looking for 'long-lasting' kitchenware

10 November 2011

When it comes to kitchen appliances, homeowners want longevity over anything else, it has been suggested.

Steven Fielding, commercial director of Lacanche, explained that there had been a shift in consumer buying habits, with a move from disposable kitchenware to products that are going to last quite a considerable amount of time.

"It is the longevity. We have customers whose cookers are 15 or 20 years old. When you buy one of these cookers, you can expect that the product is going to last. The cookers that are 20 years old look just as good as they did when they came out of the box. That type of longevity is what people are looking for," he said.

"They might occasionally have a service call to do a repair, but it can be serviced and it can be looked after. People still expect a good price, but they know they are getting a good product."

Mr Fielding added that the most popular colours emerging were "typical English creams", black and "burgundy red".

Homeowners looking to invest in long-lasting kitchenware should relocate their old equipment to a self storage unit to make room for new items.
