The coalition government's new Localism Act will have a massive impact on the commercial sector, according to Grosvenor.
Nigel Hughes, director of planning and environment at Grosvenor, explained that the commercial sector would need to be more active as a result of the act.
"Very definitely, the commercial sector has to get involved [...] so it is a full community approach rather than just a residential approach or a developer's approach," he said.
"We will also have to consult a little bit earlier and not go to an exhibition with plans fully developed; we must - as an industry - learn how to go in, take feedback and design from that feedback, rather than presenting a plan and then asking for feedback."
Mr Hughes stated that at the moment developers are largely unconvinced by the idea of localism.
"Overall, we will have to check and understand what the plans mean for the commercial sector," he said.
Businesses operating in the commercial sector can benefit from the use of a self storage unit to archive old documents clogging up the workplace.
