The rise of the bespoke chandelier

06 February 2012

Bespoke chandeliers are one of the surprising trends in interior design, according to Roastdesigns.co.uk.

Karen Walker, founder of the London-based company, explained that a growing number of clients were looking to bring in these kinds of designs into different spaces in the home.

"I guess what we did a lot of was big hall pieces, because what we've got are chandeliers that can be very long and lend themselves to that droop of glass balls," she said.

"But since then, what we've done is install them in bedrooms, in sitting rooms, over dining tables. What we've done is get a lot more creative about carving out the space underneath the chandelier."

Ms Walker expanded by saying that they can work with lower ceilings as well as with other designs, which is allowing for a lot of creativity to occur in this area.

"So we're going wider and shorter - keeping the statement and beauty of the pieces, but allowing them to be incorporated into lots more spaces - certainly over dining tables and beds - that's been very popular," she concluded.

Homeowners looking to add bespoke chandeliers are advised to use a self storage unit during the fitting process to keep items safe from any possible damage.
