Safestore’s charity of the year partner Scope is launching a new mass participation event which gives disabled and non-disabled people the opportunity to get involved in physical activity and raise funds for a good cause.
The initiative, called Time to Get Active, encourages people to organise sponsored events in their local areas.
A Time to Get Active event can be whatever participants want it to be – for example, setting themselves a ‘personal best challenge’, organising a fun run or taking part in a sponsored swim. Participants simply need to choose a physical activity of their choice, get all their friends and family involved and encourage everyone to collect sponsorship.
Time to Get Active is also an opportunity for people and communities to join together to raise awareness of disabled people’s equality, challenge society’s attitudes and enable people to raise awareness about local issues (e.g. accessibility, transport) that are important to them.
