Safestore is supporting Wrap Up London 2015
It's that time of year again when we dig out our winter warm clothes, hats, scarves and coats. And as the cold, dark nights draw in, we'll pull our coats round us even more to keep warm. But what about those who'll be out on London's streets without a coat to their name? Whilst lots of us will be shopping around for this season's latest fashion in coats, what happens to last year's ones?
Why not rummage through your wardrobes and dig out any old coats to donate to Hands On London’s 2015 Wrap Up London campaign. Wrap Up London is a fantastic scheme ran by volunteers which has been running for five years. The aim of Wrap Up London is to collect old and unwanted coats and distribute them to needy people in the capital such as homeless shelters, refugee centres, women's refuges and other charities.
As temperatures begin to drop in the capital, Londoners are being asked to come together and donate an unwanted coat to someone in need - a coat which could be someone else's life line - their life jacket.
In 2014, Wrap Up London gave out over 14,700 coats to homeless and needy people. This year though, they want to beat that phenomenal figure. With a target of 22,000 coats to be distributed to over 170 different organisations (and a special plea for men's coats) they need your help to make this a reality, and to help those who are sleeping rough every night.
At Safestore, we recognise the importance of this worthy cause. From now until the 20th of November, we are holding coat collections in our Pentonville Road, Notting Hill and Clapham stores.
So why not take some time this weekend to dig out your unwanted winter coats. Have a look at the back of your wardrobe and at the bottom of your cupboards and donate any old or unwanted coats to a cause that will help real people in need. People for whom an old coat could really make all the difference.
