Frequently Asked Questions About Self Storage
Here at Safestore we want to reassure you on the quality of our service. We try and anticipate your needs, desires and your doubts. Therefore, here are 5 questions that you should ask yourself before storing your goods:
1) Who can access my storage unit and how is it stored?
If you are going to trust us with your belongings which may be valuable, you will want to know who can access them and how they will be stored. Safestore provides 24 hour CCTV, a sophisticated alarm system, helpful storage advisors and quality padlocks to insure the best security for your goods. If you bring your own padlock, only you have the key and therefore only you can access you storage unit.
2) How do I move my goods to the storage unit?
Most of the time, you will have to bring your belongings to the store by your own means. We have car park spaces and large loading/unloading bayswhich make moving easier. Nevertheless, you can take advantage of our partnership with Europcar or local removal companies who can provide preferential rates!
3) How to pack properly?
Once you know how you are going to transport your goods, you should
pack them in a safe and secure way so they won’t get damaged during the transport process. Our suggestion would be to put together a little “Packing kit” with scissors, labels, tape (parcel is better) and a marker pen. Use protective wrap, acid-free paper and corrugated cardboard to protect anything fragile! Clean every hidden recess in the fridge, oven etc…Also don’t forget to put a moist absorber with your cloths to prevent any damage! If for any reason you don’t have any packaging materials, we sell a wide variety in store.
4) How much will I have to pay: are they any extra costs, any discounts?
The price factor depends on which store you go to. This can vary from £20 per week to over £300 per week (mostly for businesses) depending on the size of storage space and value of your goods. Safestore is upfront about all costs you will have to pay by the end of your stay. It consists of the
price of the storage, a padlock and StoreProtect. Furthermore, Safestore accepts Tesco Clubcard tokens and often gives discounts. Most stores will have student’s prices or special discounts.
5) What happens if I lose my key?
If you are the type of person who loses things like keys, no need to worry. Simply go and see a member of staff with your contract and valid ID and tell them that you lost your key. They will cut it open and provide a new padlock (At your charge)
