Safestore & Jump Space Rebound Therapy Centre

Safestore & Jump Space Rebound Therapy Centre

Jump Space

Safestore is a nationwide company but we take care to get involved with our local communities at each of our 126 sites.  A big part of that involvement is through working with and supporting local charities to boost their funds by raising awareness of their aims and fundraising efforts.  This week, we’d like to turn the spotlight on Jump Space, a charity that offers trampolining, sensory play and Rebound Therapy to disabled children, young people and their families.

Jump Space’s Beginnings

Marie Fisher and Lynsey Mcintosh formed Jump Space in 2008, initially using leisure centres and schools to offer trampolining activities.  Demand grew and they were able to establish their first Jump Space Centre in Stockport, in 2010.

Their classes are open to children and young people with or without disabilities and provide a fun, inclusive and safe place for everyone to enjoy.  Many children and young people with disabilities are unable to access other forms of activity or sport, but the Jump Space Centre is fully accessible and fitted with specialist equipment including hoists to enable everyone to take part.  There are trampolines, a ballpool and sensory area, too, and the staff are trained in delivering Rebound Therapy and trampolining skills.  The coaches are supported by a team of volunteers who provide extra support to ensure that everyone can take part.

Fundraising Efforts

Jump Start couldn’t function without donations from the public.  They have some great ideas for corporate and individual fundraising that you could choose to try out.  If you think you could help, you can call Jump Space on 0161 637 2800 or email them at info@jumpspace.org.uk.

Jump Space is also always delighted to receive help from volunteers in a range of roles, if you can spare some time for them on a regular basis.  You could be a play leader, helping children and young people to access the equipment and play, you could train to be a Rebound Therapy coach, or simply support at fundraising events. If you have a particular trade or skill that would be helpful to allow the centre to continue to run (such as plumbers, joiners, gas engineers, decorators, electricians, IT specialists etc.), Jump Start would be delighted to hear from you!

Jump Space and Safestore

As well as raising the profile of this brilliant charity, we’re delighted to be able to provide practical support. Jump Space uses 80 sq ft of space free of charge at our Stockport Central store to keep their trampoline and play mat equipment safe and secure.
