Liverpool Cycle Tours Ltd

Our self-storage facilities are used by individual customers, charities and businesses to meet a wide range of storage needs. We like getting to know all of our customers and in the case of commercial clients we like, where possible, to promote their businesses. This week, we’d like to highlight a very interesting man and his business: Phil, who runs Liverpool Cycling Tours Ltd, which offers a unique way to tour the fabulous city of Liverpool.

Liverpool is a vibrant, funky northern city with bags of heritage. It's a city with heart, plenty of shopping opportunities and newspaper sellers who yell "Echo!" from doorways when you aren't expecting it. But it's far more than that, too - it has a wealth of culturally and historically important sights and was, of course, the birthplace of the original – and arguably the best – boy band to grace our shores!

Our Liverpool Safestore is where Phil chooses to safely store his bikes, helmets and other paraphernalia, and where his city and Beatles cycling tours start. So, if you are interested in taking a tour of Liverpool or in seeing all the sights associated with its most famous residents, you’ll need a Ticket to Ride before you Come Together with Phil and the other riders at our Liverpool Safestore on Jordan Street, near the Docks. Parking is free during your tour!

Phil and his colleagues are available Eight Days a Week (well, seven), offering several tours each day around the city centre (covering 5 miles in about an hour-and-a-half) or visiting notable Beatles-related venues including:
  • McCartney’s and Lennon’s houses
  • Strawberry Fields
  • Eleanor Rigby’s grave
  • Penny Lane
  • Lennon and Harrison’s old school

(The Beatles tour covers an impressive 16.5 miles. If you’re thinking, ‘Help! I’m So Tired’, worry not – there are even electric, pedal-assisted bikes to make the Long and Winding Road a little easier to manage.)

Phil also offers bespoke tours and tours of the city’s parks (keep an eye out and you might see a Blackbird or two), the north coast and the Wirral on request. Bikes and helmets are all included in the very reasonable prices, there are no minimum group numbers for the standard tours (so solo riders are welcome), and there are discounted prices for children.

Phil knows his stuff about Liverpool and the Fab Four, and since groups are limited to ten riders at a time each rider feels involved and – most importantly – can hear all of Phil’s interesting and insightful commentary (so no need for Phil to Twist and Shout to be heard).

It’s a truly unique way to get to see the sights of Liverpool, and the Beatles tours offer a much more personal way to learn about the group than traditional tourist attractions. It’s also environmentally-friendly and, thanks to carefully-chosen routes, perfectly safe: just watch out for The Fool on the Hill and you’ll Get Back safe and sound.

Phil has been running Liverpool Cycling Tours Ltd for the last seven years and has taken on an additional two guides as business has grown. Somehow he also manages to teach in a secondary school as a Design and Technology teacher and work as a musician when he’s not cycling around Liverpool. We’re really pleased to be able to help Phil by providing storage for his gear and a central start-point for his awesome Magical Mystery Tour(s). If you’re staying in the area or just a Day Tripper and are interested in booking one of his tours, you can visit his site here
