Thinking about moving to SW6? This guide covers everything you need to know, from transport links and amenities to property prices and lifestyle insights. Whether you’re relocating for work, family, or a change of scenery, this article provides useful tips to help you settle in.

If you like the idea of living in a quiet, relaxed area that’s still close to the hustle and bustle of central London, moving to SW6 - Fulham and Parsons Green - could be the best thing you’ll ever do.

What’s living in SW6 like?

Pricey, but not too bad for a premium location

SW6 is considered to be a really good postcode in London, and anywhere this close to the centre of a major capital city is bound to be expensive. Even so, the property prices in Fulham and Parsons Green are lower than in neighbouring Chelsea and West Kensington.

Attractive to a young population and different cultures

Whilst some other areas of London are populated with older, established professionals and their families, SW6 is highly desirable to younger professionals and families, with many of the properties sold in this area being 2 - 3 bedroomed homes. There’s a lovely village feel to the area; the locals are welcoming and people have settled happily here from all over the world.

Well-connected to central London

There are excellent transport connections from SW6 to central London, via the District Line at Fulham Broadway and Parsons Green tube stations. Not far away, West Brompton and Putney Bridge tube stations are also an option.

Or, why not make use of the Thames to get you from SW6 right into the heart of London? A 25-minute walk, or under 10-minute cycle ride, will take you to Putney Pier, where you can catch the UberBoat. At peak times, the Thames Clipper service leaves Putney Pier every 20 minutes or so, and commuters can settle back for a stress-free journey of around 50 minutes to Embankment, or 1 hour 10 minutes to Canary Wharf.

There are also plenty of riverside walks and cycleways you can use to travel around for free!

SW6 has lots of green spaces

The easy access to parks, commons, wetlands, and gardens, means that if you live in Fulham and Parsons Green, you’ll always have plenty of places to spend time in the open air. The Fulham Palace Gardens are a great place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon!

Great schools in SW6

Really good quality state and independent schools abound in the area. There are several primary and secondary schools rated Outstanding by OFSTED in the area. These include Langford Primary School, St John’s Walham Green Church of England Primary School, Lady Margaret School (for girls) and The London Oratory School (for boys). Numerous other schools are rated Good, and are highly recommended by parents of existing pupils.

Fulham is posh!

Gone are the days pre-War when Fulham was very much a working-class area. The substantial redevelopment of the SW6 area has attracted a lot of wealth and diversity, and it’s now considered a very well-heeled, highly desirable place to live. The housing is a mixture of newbuilds and Victorian or Edwardian homes, so there is a broad choice of housing styles to meet most personal tastes and budgets.

Where are the best places to live in SW6?

If SW6 sounds appealing and you have the budget, you’ll be spoilt for choice for where to live in the area.

Parsons Green is right at the heart of the SW6 postcode and there are some much sought-after streets where properties are snapped up very quickly, mostly by families attracted by the larger properties and schools.

Fulham Broadway is great if you want to live somewhere central, with shops, cafes, bars and restaurants close at hand, and very easy access into the City.

If you’re looking for a prestigious, impressive property, have a look at apartments available in the Imperial Wharf area overlooking the Thames. Pop into the Sands End pub for some delicious food!
