StoreProtect Enhanced Liability

How to safeguard your items during storage?

All our customers must maintain insurance cover for the duration of their stay.

If you would like a general explanation of why insurance is required for self storage, what is typically covered, and what options are available, you can read our guide to self storage insurance.

As an alternative to arranging your own Insurance we can accept an enhanced liability for Loss or Damage which may occur during storage under StoreProtect up to your stated Maximum Replacement Value. “StoreProtect” means an agreement by us to accept an enhanced liability for loss or damage to your goods as described in the StoreProtect Addendum. If you opt for StoreProtect, You have the option, but not the obligation, to insure Your Goods.

Our Licence restricts our liability to you to for loss or damage to your goods to negligence only up to a maximum of £100 and requires you to arrange insurance cover for Your Goods for the Maximum Replacement Value of your property. As an alternative, we can accept an enhanced liability for loss or damage to your goods which may occur during storage.

StoreProtect is an agreement by us to accept an enhanced liability over and above our Restricted Liability under our Licence Agreement for loss or damage to Your Goods as described in the StoreProtect Addendum for an additional charge. If you opt for StoreProtect, You have the option, but not the obligation, to insure Your Goods.  If you do not opt for StoreProtect, You must provide evidence to Us that Your Goods are adequately insured for all of the Normal Perils listed in Licence Condition 19.2.2.

It is important that you declare the full replacement value as new of your goods. It is your responsibility to inform Safestore in writing if your items in storage exceed your declared value, see the Proportional Reduction condition in the Store Protect Addendum.
