Safestore - No Deposit

No deposit self storage with Safestore

A deposit is extra money held back as security, which you'd normally claim back once you leave. At Safestore, there is no deposit to put down.

What you do pay when you move in is your first period of storage, just as you'd pay your first month's rent on a flat. That's it: no deposit, no admin fee, no set-up charge. An advance payment means you'll always be in credit with us.

Your first payment

You pay for your first invoice after signing the licence agreement before you move in. For our Variable contract, that is one week. For Fixed and Flexible contracts, payment is taken for the first 2 or first 4 weeks, depending on your storage agreement. This payment won't include contents protection if you're able to supply proof of insurance you have arranged separately that meets our liability requirements.

Pick the right storage contract

Contract Type Minimum Stay Notice to Leave Best For
Variable Most flexible 1 week (minimum invoice period) No notice required Maximum flexibility, ideal for short-term needs
Flexible 14 days 14 days notice required A balance of flexibility and short-term planning
Fixed 12 months No notice required at end of term Long-term storage with a guaranteed rate

Your first payment could be even lower

Questions about paying when you move in

Do I need to pay a deposit to rent a storage unit with Safestore?

No. Safestore does not require a deposit. You can reserve a unit online, by phone, or in store. There is no deposit to put down when you move in, saving you the hassle of claiming your money back when you leave.

Are there any hidden charges I should know about?

No hidden charges. Before you confirm a booking, we show you the full weekly or monthly cost of your unit, including any applicable insurance. The price you see is what you pay, with no setup fees, no admin charges and no deposit. You are required to have a padlock to secure your unit - purchase this from Safestore or use your own.

What about insurance, is that included in the price?

Safestore offers contents protection which is included in your final quote. This is added when you confirm your booking with our store team, so we can make sure the value of your goods are fully covered.

The cost for StoreProtect is shown clearly before you commit. You can also arrange your own contents insurance if you prefer, provided it meets the required level of cover.

What is the difference between self storage and a safe deposit box company?

Safestore is a self-storage company: we rent you a private, secure storage unit where you can store furniture, boxes, equipment, or business stock. A safe deposit box is a small locked box inside a bank or specialist facility, typically used for documents, jewellery, or valuables. The two are different services. Safestore does not offer safe deposit box hire.
