Safestore has been helping people and businesses store what matters most since 1998. Today we're the UK's largest self-storage group, with more than 135 stores across the country, including 54 within the M25, and a presence across France, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, and through joint ventures in Germany and Italy. Safestore Holdings PLC is listed on the FTSE 250 London Stock Exchange, a reflection of our scale, stability, and long-term commitment to our customers.

Our Story

Safestore was founded in the UK in 1998 with a simple idea: give people and businesses a safe, accessible place to store their belongings. In 2004 we expanded into France, acquiring Une Pièce en Plus, a business founded by our current Group CEO Frederic Vecchioli, and we've been growing ever since.

Today, Safestore Holdings PLC operates more than 230 locations across seven European countries under several trusted brands, including Une Pièce en Plus in France, OhMyBox! in Spain, MijnSafestore in the Netherlands, MySafestore in Belgium, Safestore-myStorage in Germany, and EasyBox in Italy.

In the UK, our stores span key cities including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, and Leeds, with more opening all the time.

Around 550 colleagues work across our UK stores and support functions, each committed to delivering the kind of experience that keeps our customers coming back.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

Our Wembley store is our greenest yet, achieving BREEAM Excellent certification, the first Safestore location to reach this standard. From the living green wall to renewable energy use, it is a showcase of what sustainable self-storage looks like.

Our Sustainability Commitment

We take our responsibility to the environment seriously, and we're proud of the progress we've made.

All of our UK stores run on 100% certified renewable electricity, and since May 2022 we've achieved 100% diversion of UK operational waste from landfill. Our entire UK fleet is now made up of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and our packing boxes are made from 100% recycled materials and are fully recyclable.

We build all new stores to at least BREEAM Very Good standards and are committed to reaching operational net zero by 2035.
